BOZEMAN — This week marks the first week back to school for students in Bozeman but in an entirely different way.

Across the Bozeman School District, students K-12 are engaged in remote-learning, meeting with teachers over video, turning in assignments online and doing it all outside of school.

School board officials say each building, each principal and each teacher are all working together, also remotely, to make sure kids have gotten their belongings out of school before the stay-at-home directive.

And also lining up class schedules, working with parents with the younger kids, something the school board calls a monumental effort.

"I think heroic, Herculean maybe? That word comes to mind, as well, because of all of the heavy lifting,” says Andy Willett, Bozeman District School Board chair. “I know a lot of teachers, a lot of administrators did not take much time over spring break at all. They were working very very hard to figure out how to implement curriculum."

School board officials also say the schools are working with families who did *not have internet or computer access, making sure they have the tools needed to learn at home.
