The Children's Museum of Montana has several summer camps that children can participate in.

One of those is Growing Gardeners, where they spend a week learning about plants, insects, and weather.

We talked with Sherrie Neff, the director at the Museum, and she tells us registration for these camps have been down, and they think its because of COVID - but they are taking all possible measures to ensure safety.

Neff said, "I think it's a COVID thing, and we have gone through the research, we have done everything we could possibly do to have the proper precautions, so I hope that people don't think the museum is too large to sanitize because it's not."

She continued, "We think that maybe the community feels that our sanitization is weak, but it's not, and the health department approves us. Our certification is on our door. We are doing best practices and different sanitation for the different mediums in the various areas through the Museum between each group, and so it's very safe and enjoyable."

Neff says that the Museum has plenty of space to allow for kids to keep their distance: "The Museum, there are 22,000 square feet, and we do have a limit, we're putting 10 is our limit right now. We have approval for up to 15. The classroom that is used primarily for the camp is a huge boardroom with six long tables. And so there's plenty of space to keep the kids stations, the six feet apart. Easy for us to do."

The facility is located near Whittier Park and the Civic Center in downtown Great Falls. Call 406-452-6661 for more information, or click here to visit the website.
