BOZEMAN — The Bozeman Police Department says the public has been reporting scam callers asking for money, in exchange for not arresting the person on the other end of the phone.

On Friday, BPD said in a Facebook post the callers "claim that there is a warrant out for your arrest and it requires payment." The department points out that law enforcement does not request money in exchange for not arresting a person.

The scammers have the ability to mimic actual, local police phone numbers, BPD said, and if you have any doubts, you should hang up and call the law enforcement agency yourself.
