Funerals with military honors at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery are temporarily on hold due to COVID-19.
However, one family still got the chance to honor their hero with a ceremony.
James Shaw was a Vietnam veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. Shaw passed away from natural causes on May 30. His family was upset they wouldn't be able to hold a funeral with military honors, so they wrote letters to leaders and word stretched to Washington D.C., catching the attention of Senator Rand Paul.
Shaw's family was put in touch with Military Freedom Fest, who helped provide a proper ceremony.
