On Friday, health officials confirmed a third person, a woman in her 30s, has tested positive for COVID-19 in Madison County.

The woman is recovering at home and her direct contact with another COVID-19 positive person is unknown, according to Melissa Brummell, RN, Public Health Director with Madison County Public Health (MCPHD).

The woman’s household members and close contacts are not currently showing any symptoms and are quarantining at home for 14 days, Brummell said in a press release.

MCPHD said in the release more cases are expected to arise in Madison County and urged the public to follow Gov. Steve Bullock’s stay-at-home order that went into effect at midnight Saturday.

MCPHD stated that “it is imperative that we take social distancing measures seriously, or we could very likely end up with more cases, possibly even resulting in death.”

The other two cases currently in Madison County, according to state data, are in a woman in her 50s and a man in his 70s.
