Montana adds 115 new COVID-19 cases (Wednesday, August 5)

UPDATE: 8/5/2020 - 12:15 PM - As of Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, at 12 p.m. Gallatin County has 11 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, for a cumulative total of 915. There are 45 confirmed active cases and one current hospitalization. There have been a total of 870 people recovered in Gallatin County. Three people have died from COVID-19 complications in Gallatin County.

PREVIOUS:
Montana added 115 new COVID-19 cases to its total on the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map on Wednesday.

Note: Numbers reported by the state each day may differ from those reported by county public health departments due to periodic lag times in reporting data to the state. MTN News counts the updated data individual counties report throughout a given day.

• TOTAL CASES & RECOVERIES: Montana now reports 4,429 cumulative cases statewide, with 2,820 people recovered.

• HOSPITALIZATIONS: There are currently 79 patients hospitalized. There have been 248 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

• ACTIVE CASES: The state reports there are currently 1,544 active COVID-19 cases in Montana.

• TESTING: The number of tests increased by 1,888 over the previous 24-hour reporting period, for a new cumulative state-wide total of 183,124.

• DEATHS: The cumulative number of deaths in Montana is now at 65.

The total number of deaths in Montana due to coronavirus now stands at 65, an increase of one during the previous 24-hour reporting period.

Yellowstone County reported another death Wednesday morning but said it would not be reflected in the Wednesday report from the state. Here is the full press release:

RiverStone Health, Yellowstone County’s public health department, reports another COVID-19 related death of a Yellowstone County resident.

Early Wednesday, August 5, a man in his 60s passed away at a Yellowstone County hospital.

The 26th COVID-19 death in Yellowstone County was confirmed Friday, along with the third death in Gallatin County.

Governor Steve Bullock announced a statewide directive requiring face coverings/masks in Montana on July 15. The directive applies to counties that have four or more active cases of COVID-19.

The directive requires that masks be used in most indoor settings and where social distancing cannot be maintained. Bullock said businesses will have the right to deny entry of anyone not wearing a mask.
