In the early, morning hours of September 20, 2018, Jacqueline Heinrich (née Hartzell) died peacefully at the Anaconda Community Nursing Home in Anaconda, Montana. Her sense of humor and love of life will be greatly missed, but we celebrate the party that is going on in Heaven with her arrival.
Jackie is survived by her children, Karen (Kauz) McCarthy, Michael (Jan) Heinrich and Randy Heinrich; brother, Garry (Kathy) Hartzell; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Ellen Heinrich and cousins, Janice Rhea and Nancy Hampton. She has three grandchildren, Joshua, Toby and Mikayla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Verne Heinrich; father, Lester Hartzell; her mother, Mary Morrow and her brother, Jim Hartzell.
Jackie was born on February 10, 1937, in Modesto, California. She graduated from Modesto High School where she was active as a bass cello player in the pep band. Soon after on June 12, 1956, she married Verne, the love of her life. They settled in Modesto on a plot of land owned by the Heinrich family and over the next few years welcomed three children into their home. In the early 70’s the family moved to Montana after falling in love with the area on a vacation. They settled in Manhattan and found their ‘forever home’ there. Jackie was an active member of the Manhattan Bible Church and served as a pianist and a nursery worker for many years. After Verne’s death she enjoyed working at Manhattan State Bank.
Jackie spent much of her life caring for children, be it her foster children, grandchildren or the many children she fell in love with as “Grandma Jackie,” a popular babysitter in the area. Children were her passion and in her later years, while struggling with Alzheimer’s, a video of children could always bring a smile to her face.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 on October 13, at Meadow View Cemetery in Manhattan, with a reception to follow at Parkhaven Assisted Living Facility. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jackie’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to YES Youth Empowerment Services at P.O. Box 686 Anaconda, MT. 59711. The family would like to thank the staff of the Anaconda Community Nursing Home of Anaconda and Parkhaven Assisted Living Facility of Manhattan for their care and dedication during her last years on this earth.
