BOZEMAN — If you’re looking for your fill of holiday spirit, look no further than the gas station.

Venture Church in Bozeman took over the Conoco gas station on 7th for a holiday surprise: 50 cents off per gallon.

“Giving people the unexpected, and just being a blessing to them and help them to stop and experience what Christmas is all about,” said lead pastor at Venture Church, Charley Carpenter.

“That’s the best part. Just the connection with the people.”

Members of the congregation were passing out free coffee and hot cocoa, wiping down windshields and pumping gas for anybody who showed up.

For the last 6 years, volunteers from Venture Church have been filling up gas tanks on Christmas Eve. They say it’s a great way to give back to the community and spread the holiday cheer.

“Seeing the reactions of just like wow, 50 cents off the gallon it’s like, what’s the catch? And there’s no catch,” said Mark Terwilliger, a volunteer with Venture Church.

“It’s just all about our church giving back and just giving love to the community during Christmas.”

Members of Venture Church say pumping gas for the community has become a holiday tradition for them, and said they hoped to reach as many people as possible.

“There’s folks that it just really helps them out every year. And it just gives them an opportunity to fill up their gas tanks and get them on their way.”
