MANHATTAN — A vandalism incident happening in Manhattan shocked the small community.

A Bozeman girl was visiting her friend in Manhattan Wednesday and parked her car in front of the friend’s house where she realized the back windshield had been shot out with what she believes was a pellet gun.

Neighbors believe the incident happened between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday night.

The vehicle had statements in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, and the owner says she still stands by the messages.

“I have no plans of erasing it. I support it. I stand by it, and this is the… what has happened to my car is the exact reason why I have it written on my car. We’ve had people roll down their windows next to us when we’re at a stoplight, flip us off you know. Call us every name in the book,” explained Payton Musaers, the owner of the vehicle.

Manhattan Police Chief Dennis Hengel confirms a report has been filed, and an investigation is underway.
