BOZEMAN — The summer season is winding down and so is the chance to utilize the Gallatin Valley Food Bank’s free summer meals for kids.

Friday, August 28th will be the last day the food bank will be offering free meals to anyone under 18 years old.

MTN spoke with one of the food bank’s volunteers who shares her experience from this summer.

“I think it’s a comfort. They know they can trust that it’s going to be here," explained Volunteer Kellie Schramm. "They get it during school. Maybe the familiarity of having food available to them. I got a little rainbow heart made out of those melted beads and a little turtle, and I love it. It’s in my car and I carry it everywhere with me. Just makes me feel good."

This summer, the food bank has served more than 15,000 meals to kids.
