BOZEMAN — This week, Bozeman city commissioners opened the door to a project that plans to turn a small field into a new subdivision.

City commissioners unanimously voted to approve the condominium project, called “The Nest," on Monday which would build 45 new homes on about 6-acres of land.

Planners add that about two acres of that land, when finished, will remain untouched or grassy.

While what they cost remains unknown, commissioners say it is an efficient way to build more needed homes in a small area.

“It is definitely an odd size when you try to look at how to get a road and then buildable units and then on the backside of this property is a wetlands area with some active water and so you start putting all of those puzzle pieces together and it was a challenge," says Marty Matsen, Bozeman City Community Development director.

The project still has to go through a site-planning process with the city and then get building permits for the homes before the it can go forward.
