BOZEMAN — As of Tuesday night, the Big Sky Country State Fair Board voted to recommend that the Gallatin County Commission cancel the fair this year.

Fair director Dennis Voeller says that the board came to this decision after closely monitoring the situation and, up until the vote, had scheduled the fair as planned.

The fair director says after careful consideration, the board wants to put on a good show the right way and wants to follow phasing guidelines for the time being.

The fair was set to take place July 15 through 19.

Now, Gallatin County commissioners will meet next Tuesday, May 26, to vote on whether or not to officially cancel it.
