BOZEMAN, Mont. – Saturday was National Trails Day, and people in Gallatin Valley celebrated by cleaning up one of the many trails in Bozeman.
Gallatin Valley Land Trust (GVLT) and Bozeman Health partnered on Saturday morning to improve the trails at Highland Glen Nature Preserve.
Each year, GVLT chooses a different trail that needs some cleaning.
Several volunteers come out on this day every year to clean up the spaces they love.
“People in this community really have a sense of ownership over their shared community spaces and this feeling like, ‘okay I love this place, I’m using these trails, it’s my responsibility to give back,'” said GVLT Communications and Outreach Director EJ Porth.
“Not only do they come to help out they with a smile on their face, they come to meet their neighbors, and it’s just a really positive, encouraging time for people to come together,” she added.
Bozeman Health also launched its Outdoor Healthy Life campaign on Saturday, which promotes getting outside and being active as a form of preventive medicine.
