BOZEMAN, Mont- As we know living in Montana, we see wildlife almost daily.

Well, if you come across an animal in the middle of the road while you’re driving, Montana Highway Patrol said it’s not the best idea to swerve and avoid it.

Rather than swerving, it’s best to slow down as much as possible.

MHP said they see crashes involving wildlife five days out of the week.

“A lot of people tend to swerve to try and miss wildlife and when they do it ends up to be a much worse crash, being rollovers or involving other parties,” MHP Trooper Alex Velasquez said.

If you do happen to hit any wildlife, stay in your vehicle and call the Montana Highway Patrol or your local law enforcement.
