BELGRADE, Mont. – Now that the Jackrabbit Lane construction is just about complete, another part of the project was adding a new bike path parallel to the road.

This path connects from the Belgrade city limits to Four Corners. Belgrade’s planning director Jason Karp, who is also an avid cyclist, says there used to be quiet routes you could take, but with the growth of both Belgrade and Bozeman, all of the roads are very busy, especially during peak hours.

“For people who commute, they’re naturally riding during peak hours. There’s not a good way to do it. This opens up that possibility for people. It could open up the possibility of people taking Streamline one way and the bike the other way,” Karp said.

“We’re going to have more businesses and homes built in that corridor and this is just going to make those businesses accessible for people on bikes and on foot.”

Karp did mention that the Montana Department of Transportation is putting finishing touches on the bike path and that people should hold off using it during the week for now.
