BOZEMAN, Mont. – Longfellow Elementary students took a break from class at 10 a.m. on Friday as they made their way out into the hallways to celebrate International Day of Peace by singing the song “Peace Around the World”.
All students at the school sang the lyrics, “Light a candle for peace, light a candle for love,” as the soundtrack played over the intercom.
This holiday is recognized worldwide as a way of promoting peace and love for everyone, no matter who you are or where you come from.
“It is so emotional to be in the hallway when all these kids are singing about peace and singing ‘Peace Around the World’,” said 4th Grade Teacher Whitney Shafer. “It brings tears to my eyes every single year that it is sung, and it is just really, really special.”
This was the second year the school took part in the holiday.
