BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Bozeman Fire Department is reminding homeowners that more visible home address numbers help them when responding to an emergency.

“The numbers need to be at least 4 inches, the bigger the better, and displayed horizontally, read left to right,” said BFD Battalion Chief Graver Johnson.

Battalion Chief Johnson says on many emergency calls, every second matters and they can’t afford to waste time looking for the correct home. Many emergency calls come at night when visibility is already diminished.

BFD says if you can, having someone outside waiting for first responders is the best option.
