BOZEMAN — SCL Health opened up in Bozeman earlier this month, smack dab in the middle of a pandemic.

“To be honest it's obviously been a little scary,” said Dekrisha Lew a doctor at SCL.

SCL Health’s newest facility is offering the Bozeman community basic health services.

“We offer care to all ages. Family Care," said Physician assistant Christina Deleo "So we offer annual wellness visits, sports physicals, we have labs, imaging and sick visits as well.”

During COVID-19 one service that this facility has been offering patients is virtual visits from the comfort of their own home.

“We had intended to do video visits from the very get go," Lew said. "That was sort of one our intiatives coming here was offering our virtual visits and so now with COVID that’s one of things that they're pushing anyway and we can say hey we have virtual visits.”

What are the types of visits for these virtual check ups?

‘Things like blood pressure follow ups, medication followups, refill follow ups," said Lew. "A handful of COVID concerns.”

Having to change from going in to to see a doctor to behind a screen can be difficult, however, people have been more receptive to these virtual visits, according to the staff at SCL.

I think that we have noticed more people kind of appreciative of the care that they have been able to get over the phone or virtually," said Deleo. "Just because it’s an extra option. It gives people their pick, one, and they can do it safely from their home.

However, just because you’re seen virtually doesn’t mean your care ends there.

Virtual visits really can start out as virtual visits and we can kind of triage and talk to them through the virtual visit and if we need to, always have them come in," Deleo said.
