At the corner of 5th Ave. and Rodney St. stands The Grateful Bread, which opened on February 29, 2020, shortly thereafter Riley and Rainey Keating, owners of the bakery, were hit with the uncertainty that all business owners felt, when Governor Steve Bullock put in place a Stay-at-Home order on March 26.
“We've definitely made some adaptations, like opening the side window for pickup orders and just changing with the times and just keeping up with everything the governor says,“ said Rainey.
Though the Keatings made some changes the cash is still flowing in as a result of their hard work to make it work.
“We're here working our business daily and that is all the difference here," said Riley, "That's one of the reasons we've been able to stay afloat. That's one of the reasons that we're able to put our heart into what we do. We're here working it every single day."
Though the business is doing well, both of the Keating’s, much like everyone, can't wait until things go back to normal.
“When we had customers up front the other day that were laughing and talking, we were talking to each other about and we're like, we missed the laughter in here. We miss people talking and gathering in here. ”
