BOZEMAN — The story about a cat that was found caught in a trap at the beginning of December near Belgrade just entered a new chapter.

We’ve been following his story since it happened and now can tell you he’s just been adopted.

Gallatin County Animal Control officers say the cat -- since dubbed “Trapper” -- was found near Thorpe Road in bad shape, with open wounds and the risk of losing his life.

A Bozeman veterinarian had to remove both of his hind legs and fought an infection that risked Trapper’s vision.

But, Trapper rebounded.

With the help of the vet, Tiny Tails Rescue and Trapper’s foster mom, Jennifer, he has nearly made a full recovery.

“Every animal deserves a chance,” says Jennifer Perigen, Trapper’s foster mom and Tiny Tails volunteer. “He proves that. He is not letting this slow him down. He’s acting like a normal cat. He is very loving. He’s happy. He’s curious and he loves life.”

Trapper will be measured for a wheelchair this weekend and will hopefully be heading for his forever home sometime in about a week and a half.
