HELENA – A candle-lit vigil Friday afternoon honored the 26 lives taken in the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.

That shooting happened six years ago today.

The vigil at the Montana State Capitol Rotunda is one of hundreds being held across the country this month.

Helena Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America organized the memorial and included local high school students with Helena Youth Against Gun Violence.

During the vigil, attended by dozens of people, speakers read aloud the names of the children killed at Sandy Hook.

They also called for gun safety reform.
