Man on drugs attempts to rob bank

    Tuscon, AZ (KGUN) — Sahuarita Police are still investigating a robbery attempt near 18590 S. Nogales Highway that happened late on Saturday night.

Per a SPD press release, the suspect, 35-year-old Kevin Smith, was in the bank demanding money and blocking other people from entering the establishment. SPD police say he was under the influence of drugs.

When SPD arrived on scene, they made with Smith, who became aggressive and fought with officers before his handcuffed arrest.

Two officers sustained minor injuries and Smith was booked at the Pima County Jail on 9 counts of kidnapping, one count for attempted robbery, one count for third-degree burglary, one count for dangerous drug possession, one count of kidnapping, one count of resisting arrest and two counts of aggravated assault on officers.
