KALISPELL (KPAX TV) — Many law enforcement officers were in the courtroom on Thursday as Cody Lindahl of Kalispell made his initial appearance in court after firing a shotgun at officers on the night of January 24.
Officers responded to a call around 7 p.m. on that night of a man walking around Valley Drive in Kalispell with a shotgun. It was confirmed in court that Lindahl was high on illegal substances during the time of the standoff.
Lindahl is now facing charges of aggravated burglary, criminal endangerment and assault with a weapon in connection with the incident. He could face up to 40 years in prison as well as a maximum fine of $50,000 if he’s convicted on any of the charges filed against him.
The courtroom was familiar for Lindahl, as he appeared before a judge less than two weeks ago for other charges. “I lowered your bond and I was wrong, and I’m not going to be wrong again,” Judge Hummel told Lindahl.
Lindahl is still being held on $150,000 bond.
Travis Bruyer with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office talked with MTN News about how those involved with the case felt after Lindahl’s court appearance.
“Deputies appeared in court as well as other citizens to see what the pending outcome would be of today’s initial appearance for Cody Lindahl,” Bruyer said.
“The bond will stay at $150,000 which we’re comfortable at, just because there was a lot of work involved with this case,” he continued.
“And our top priority here is to make sure the citizens are safe. This is just one example of raising a bond, or keeping a bond as high as it is to keep people off the streets.,” Bruyer concluded.
Lindahl, who is behind bars in the Kalispell jail, will face arraignment in Flathead County Court on February 14.
