Scottsdale, AZ (KNXV) — A Valley family took action to track down and retrieve their stolen dog.

Scottsdale police report that last week, 42-year-old Rodney Donta Marshall was located and arrested in Tolleson.

Police accuse Marshall of stealing a Doberman Pinscher from a family in Scottsdale.

Marshall was staying with his extended family while he was trying to get back on his feet, after spending eight years in prison in Washington.

In August he was thrown out of the home for being “lazy and rude.”

On October 21, the family realized their Doberman Pinscher was missing from their backyard. They posted pictures of the dog on social media and received a call from an anonymous person saying they found their dog on Craigslist.

Marshall was allegedly selling the dog for $1,000.

The family had someone else respond and set up a meeting to buy the dog.

They confronted Marshall and retrieved their dog at a parking lot near 67th Avenue and Camelback Road.

Marshall fled before being arrested last week. He has been charged with burglary and trafficking in stolen property.
