Covington, GA (WGCL) — A young boy is dead and another critically injured after a driver, who had lost control of his vehicle, crashed into a garage they were playing in.

The crash happened Monday evening on Kirkland Road in Covington.

According to a GoFundMe page created for the boys, the two were trying to locate a missing hamster in the garage when the vehicle came crashing in.

One of the boys, 12 year-old Lucas McWilliams, was run over by the vehicle and was found underneath by first responders. He was air lifted to Children’s Health Care of Atlanta at Egleston where he was last listed in critical condition.

He’s expected to have additional surgeries, one of which will take place on Thanksgiving Day.
