Jefferson County, CO (KMGH) — There’s still no explanation after a mother was shot and her burned body was found in Golden.

Cymone Duran, a mother of two, was discovered in the early morning hours of Nov. 5. She had been shot multiple times. Her family is still struggling with the details of the heinous killing. They were also living in fear until three men were arrested.

“I don’t know anything about why they did this,” said Valentina Duran, her sister.

She wants people to remember how her sister lived, not how she died. Cymone loved being a mom to her little girls, ages two and three, she said. She was warm, funny and always wanted to see the best in everyone.

“That’s all she wanted to do was just be a good mom. I think that was all she was working towards and striving for was trying to be the best mom she could be,” Duran said.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Abel Gallegos, 35, of Lakewood, on unrelated charges on Thursday, before he was formally charged in connection to this homicide on Friday. Rene Rosales, 35, of Lakewood was also arrested Friday and Alonso Quintana, 27, of Denver, was arrested on Saturday.

Gallegos faces charges of first-degree murder, tampering with a deceased human body, second-degree arson and tampering with evidence.

Quintana was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, aggravated intimidation of a witness and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

Rosales is facing charges of accessory to first-degree murder, tampering with a deceased human body, second-degree arson and tampering with evidence.

The family has set up a GoFundme to help with expenses.
