KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMBC) — Animal Control officers pulled a massive 200 lb. alligator, at least three snakes and other animals from a Kansas City home Wednesday morning.

The animals were apparently discovered during an eviction in the 5500 block of Phelps Road.

Sean Casey, 35, who lived in the house and owned the 8-foot alligator said the gator’s name is Katfish. He said he owned the gator for about four years and “cuddled” with it.

“I could pet him and he would wag his tail,” Casey said.

Officials said it appeared the alligator had free roam of the house.

Monkey Island Rescue was called in to take the animals. The rescue group’s Dana Savorelli said all the animals appeared to be in good condition.

A city official said it is illegal to have an exotic and dangerous animal in the city.
