COCONINO COUNTY, Ariz. (KPHO/KTVK) — The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office says a 2-year-old boy was struck and killed by a neighbor’s pickup truck. That neighbor was helping the family haul water.

On Saturday, Nov. 3, just before 11:30 a.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a single vehicle accident involving a 2-year-old boy.

Deputies rushed to the home in the Valle area, which is approximately 25 miles north of Williams, Arizona.

When deputies arrived, the father told them that his child had been struck by a neighbor’s vehicle.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, that neighbor had been helping the family haul water. The child appeared to have been hit when the pickup truck was being backed up to connect to the water trailer.

In seeking emergency help, the father of the boy brought the injured child to the house of a Department of Public Safety trooper who lived nearby.

The child was taken to Valle Airport, where Guardian medics and crews from Guardian Air met them.

But the little boy was pronounced dead by medics on scene. The child was then transported to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The incident remains under investigation.
