Hamburg, NY (WKBW) — The Village of Hamburg Police now say they have received a report of trick-or-treat candy being tampered with on Halloween night.

Police say shortly after 9:30 a.m. Friday, they took a report of a needle found in a bag of whoppers.

Eyewitness News reached out to the Village of Hamburg Police earlier Friday morning after social media posts about the tampered candy surfaced but, at that time, police said they had not received any such reports.

According to the social media post, the candy was picked up in the Charlotte Avenue area of the village.

One such post claimed sewing needles were found skewered between two pieces of Whoppers. It urged anyone living in the area of the village to check their children’s candy.

Police did ask that neighbors call them if they indeed discover that their child’s candy was tampered with.
