OMAHA, Neb. (KPTM) — Dead silence almost makes it hard to believe Ken Deffenbacher’s car is even on.

“The maintenance is very low,” he said, “virtually non-existent.”

That’s just one of the many reasons why Deffenbacher says he got the all-electric Chevy Bolt.

He had his $37,000 car on display at Creighton Sunday.

It was all part of the fifth annual National Drive Electric week.

“The miles per gallon equivalent is amazing,” said Deffenbacher.

He says once he went from Omaha to Grand Island and then to Lincoln all on one charge.

That’s just under 240 miles.

Deffenbacher says with just a few hours of charging, he’s ready to hit the open road again.

“I just think it makes smart economic sense,” he said. “I always believe in saving money where I can.”
