Police search for man accused of killing wife and shooting child

    Stilwell, Oklahoma (KFSM) — Adair County Sheriff deputies and other law enforcement agencies are searching for a man they say shot and killed his wife, and also shot a child. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Aubrey Johnson III.

Johnson called authorities around 6:15 p.m. Thursday (Sep. 6) to report his wife and child has been shot, according to the Adair County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival to the scene, deputies say they found a woman had been shot in the head; Johnson’s wife was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville where she later died.

The child was life-flighted from Stilwell to a Tulsa hospital and is reported to be in stable condition, according to the Adair County Sheriff’s Department. Johnson is also suspected of wounding his 8-year-old daughter.

Johnson is described as a white male, 28, 5’6? tall, weighs 185 pounds and has blue eyes and brown hair. Friends of the victim told KOTV News On 6 Johnson may be driving a cream-colored, late model Buick and could be in Adair, Cherokee, Mayes, Rogers or Tulsa County.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations and the US Marshals are working on the investigation.
