GREAT FALLS — A group was out spreading holiday cheer on Friday night, leaving big tips at Great Falls restaurants out of the goodness of their hearts.

It was part of an annual effort organized by a group called the “cash mob.” Twenty-one people gathered downtown, each with $25 in hand. After tipping the pizza delivery man, they went to four downtown businesses, and left money for the employees.

The group stopped at Double Barrel, Tracy’s, Roadhouse Diner and Burger Bunker.

Organizer Jayson Olthoff said he considered canceling the event this year, but decided spreading the holiday cheer was more important than ever.

“I wanted to pick businesses that have really given back to the community,” he said. "So by doing that, I looked at restaurants, just to really share what this season is really all about.”

Olthoff says he hopes to keep the tradition going next year.
