Not As Cold Tonight For Bozeman But Still Chilly

Posted: Updated:

Frost is early June is always a devastating weather pattern for those who love to plant and grow gardens and enjoy wonderful flower gardens. We did receive a few emails from folks who said the did loose most if not all of their gardens due to frost this morning.

The STORMTracker Weather Team did update the forecast frequently all day Monday on air, on line and on the KBZK STORMTracker Weather Mobile app about the potential for record lows and frost Tuesday morning. Gardeners need to watch the forecast very closely in May and June for possible cold snaps like this morning.

Tonight will not be as chilly and hopefully most of the lower valleys will stay above freezing but I highly recommend covering all your flowers and gardens again tonight just to be safe as we are transitioning into a warming pattern.

City by City Forecast:

BOZEMAN: LOW: 45°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 79°. Not as cold tonight but still chilly. Mostly clear skies again tonight and mostly sunny and warmer Wednesday afternoon. Breezy at times in the afternoon.

BUTTE: LOW: 39°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 74°. Mostly clear and chilly again tonight but hopefully staying above freezing by Wednesday morning. Sunny and warmer for your Wednesday.

DILLON: LOW: 42°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 75°. Not as cold for Dillon tonight, we anticipate lows falling into the upper 30s to lower 40s. Sunny and warmer for your Wednesday.

 NEXT WEATHER MAKER

Looking ahead to this weekend and early next week some of the medium range forecast models are showing a widespread moderate to heavy rain event is possible across Montana. Worst case scenario is 1" to 2" of rainfall locally in SW Montana and best case scenario is a half an inch or less. There is still a lot of uncertainty with this pattern change. However, if the heavier rainfall does verify this could bring another round of flooding issues to the state with runoff increasing river levels and in turn produce some short term flooding issues. For now plan on the worst case scenario if you live in a flood prone area. We will be monitoring new model runs over the next couple of days and adjust the forecast accordingly.
