HRDC hopes to serve 25K lunches this summer

Posted: Updated:

BOZEMAN - The Summer Lunch Program began Monday across Gallatin County.

The volunteers and staff were hard at work this morning putting meals together for kids. Lunch is served at several sites in Gallatin County including parks, the Bozeman Public Library and many more.

Last summer the organization served 23,000 lunches and their hope is to serve 25,000 this year.

The program is free to any child under the age of 18 and to adults who give a donation.

“Summer lunch is a great resource for everyone,” Child Nutrition Programs Coordinator  Lyra Leigh-Nedbor said. “It doesn’t matter what your income is, it’s useful if you’re just out and about with your kiddos and you want to get them fed. You are dropping books off at the library or you’re just like let’s go hang out in the park and we can get free lunch.”

The Summer Lunch Program will continue throughout the next 11 weeks and August 24th will be the last day lunch will be served.
