County commissioners seek update from city on Law and Justice Center plans

Posted: Updated:

BOZEMAN - County commissioners have yet to hear back from the city regarding their plans on whether or not they will join forces with the county to upgrade the Law and Justice Center.

The county sent a letter to the city commissioners on Monday asking where they are in analyzing plans regarding a Law and Justice Center.

In January, the city commissioners decided to explore a plan where they would work with the county to upgrade the current Law and Justice Center.

The other option before the city would be to build a new safety center on Rouse Avenue that would include police, fire and the municipal courts.

If city commissioners decide to go with the Rouse option, the county needs to know so they can update their own plans for the Law and Justice Center in time for a November ballot.

"We are indeed planning a parallel path to go by ourselves but if they choose to join us with a law enforcement building we are prepared to do that as well. We really need to know so we can make our plans accordingly,” said County Commissioner Steve White.

Mayor Cyndy Andrus says that she will be replying to the county with a letter.
