Obituary: Janet Louise McMaster

Posted: Updated:

Janet Louise (Staples) McMaster passed away on February 6, 2018, in Bozeman, Montana.  Janet was born to Jack and Eunice (Swinney) Staples on September 5, 1951, in Havre, Montana.

Janet grew up in a farm community—the daughter of a wheat farmer—and enjoyed working on her family farm with her four siblings.  Janet graduated from Gildford Public School as Salutatorian; and from the University of Montana with a B.S. in Business. Janet became a teacher—teaching business and accounting classes.

Janet married Jon McMaster on December 19, 1971, in Gildford, Montana.  They welcomed two children—Jeff and Holly.

Her greatest joy came from her husband, her children, and her grandchildren and their activities.  Janet was active in her church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School classes.  She also enjoyed golfing with her husband, knitting, and gardening.  Janet will be most remembered for her devotion to her family, her kind and gentle spirit, playing card games with her family, and being an amazing cook.

Janet is survived by her husband, Jon; son, Jeff (Mandy) McMaster and their children Aubrey, Trent, and Tavan; and daughter Holly (Kenny) VanKirk and their children Kellie, Kiersten, Katelyn, and Karissa.  She is also survived by her father, Jack Staples of Bozeman; brothers, Jerry Staples of Ghana, Africa, and Dennis (Marnie) Staples of Bozeman; and sisters, Nadine (Herb) Bartle of Bozeman, and Loreen (Ken) Reese of Portland, Oregon.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Eunice Staples.

Private family services are being held.

The arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.  www.dokkennelson.com
