A 32-year-old woman died and a man was injured in a car crash in Helena on Saturday.
According to the Helena Police Department, officers responded to the crash at the intersection of Helena Avenue and Dakota Street just after 8 p.m.
Police said the woman suffered a medical episode while she was driving and the car hit a tree before stopping in the Capital City Health Club parking lot.
The woman and her male passenger were taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The passenger's injuries are not life-threatening.
According to the police, there is no indication that alcohol, speed, or other factors beyond the medical issue played a role in the crash.
Investigators said it is unclear at this time whether the woman died as a result of the medical issue, the crash, or a combination of both.
The woman's name has not yet been released.
UPDATE: Lewis & Clark County Coroner Bryan Backeberg has identified the who died following a crash on Saturday as Ashley Binion. Binion was 32 years old.
Backeberg says Binion is believed to have suffered a seizure while driving on Saturday evening.
She died at the hospital early Sunday morning. Backeberg said in a press release that the cause of death was blunt force trauma, and the manner of death was accidental.
The results from toxicology tests are pending.
