Gallatin Co. considers adding election administrator position

Posted: Updated:

Gallatin County could soon see some changes in the way elections are handled.

Gallatin County Commissioners will be having a public hearing and decision on a resolution authorizing the appointment of a county election administrator and creation of an election department.

Charlotte Mills and the Commissioners will be listening to the public for comment on how this Election Administrator will be selected.  The Commissioners have to make a final decision Tuesday because of an important time restraint.

“We have to make a decision either tomorrow or very soon after tomorrow,” said Commissioner Steve White. “The reason is this is an office that is up for election. And filing for that has to take place in the middle of January. So there really is no opportunity for delay of consideration of it.”

The Commissioners are doing a salary study to see how much this new Election Administrator would cost the county.

If you want to voice your opinion on this final hearing, go to the Gallatin County Community Room on the third floor at 311 West Main Street at 9 am Tuesday morning.
