Butte man dies after being struck by vehicle

BUTTE – A 76-year-old Butte man died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning.

Butte Law Enforcement Department reports that man was struck while walking west in the parking lane in the 2900 block of Amherst Avenue about 6:35 a.m. The man was transported to St. James HealthCare in Butte and then to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, where he died from his injuries.

The motorist who struck the man remained at the scene after the accident. Butte police along with the Montana Highway Patrol and Division of Criminal Investigations are conducting the investigation.

Police have not released the identity of the victim.
