Weekly Update On Montana's Drought Status

Weekly update on Montana's drought shows improvements again this week especially across Southern Montana counties.

Recent storms with heavy wet snow has brought SW Montana counties up to near normal precipitation levels and a few reporting stations are now running slightly above normal on year to date precipitation.

At this time there is no drought across SW Montana! There is still a little abnormally dry counties like Jefferson, Broadwater, Meagher, Northern Gallatin and Northern Park.

The percentage break down is as follows: 58% of Montana is in Moderate drought. 30% is considered Severe. 12% continues to deal with Extreme drought mostly in NE counties.

    KALISPELL - The search continues for a missing skier in the Flathead valley. Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry has identified the skier as Dr. Jonathan Scott Torgerson, 62, from Columbia Falls.
