At Monday's City Commission meeting, the final short term rental ordinance was adopted.
The new ordinance allows for short term rentals in the city, but there are three types of rentals that are defined in the ordinance.
The first is a rental property that is occupied by its owners all year long.
The second is a property that is occupied by its owners for the majority of the year.
Then the final property is one that is just owned to be rented out.
The ordinance state that there can not be any new third tier rentals, however those who are already renting those properties are grandfathered in and can continue to do so without living there for a majority of the year.
New short term rental properties will have to be documented by the city as well as inspected.
