SUPERIOR - There has been little change at the Sunrise fire that's burning 11 miles southeast of Superior.

The blaze remains at just under 25,000 acres and is still 50% contained.

A fire information meeting will be held at the Lozeau Lodge Pavilion on Wednesday, at 7 p.m. to discuss the efforts to fight the fire.

The only areas that remain under a pre-evacuation notice are Upper Trout Creek, Quartz Creek, Cougar Meadows, Cougar Gulch and Cougar Creek. There
are no areas under Stage II evacuation orders.

A fire information hotline at (406) 822-9084 is available for residents daily between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Fire managers report that while suppression activities continue, some firefighters are moving into a different phase of activity.

Along the east side of the fire, suppression repair is occurring and firefighters begin to protect areas affected by firefighting activities by constructing water bars to divert water to prevent erosion.

There are over 580 people assigned to battle the lightning sparked Sunrise fire.
