One person dead in East Helena crash

A man was killed Saturday afternoon after a motorcycle hit a truck pulling a boat.

The incident occurred at the corner of Lane Avenue and Highway 12 in East Helena.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, at approximately 2 p.m., a west-bound pickup truck hauling a boat was turning left on to Lane Avenue when an east-bound motorcycle struck the boat.

The driver of the motorcycle, a male from South Dakota, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.

Lewis and Clark County Coroner Bryan Backeberg said the 70-year-old male died of blunt force injuries as a result of the crash.

Backeberg said he is working to notify next of kin.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.

The MHP said the crash remains under investigation.
