Obituary: Terry Ray Vanderby

Terry Ray Vanderby, 70, passed away July 21, 2017, in Manhattan, MT.  He was born January 7, 1947, to Dick and Martha (VanderMolen) Vanderby in Bozeman, MT.  He was raised in Manhattan and graduated from Manhattan Christian High School.  He later attended National Electronics Institute where he earned his Associate’s Degree.

Terry was a heavy equipment operator for over thirty years working in a rock quarry in Granite Falls, WA, until his retirement when he moved to Manhattan.  He participated in the Chief Joseph Trail Ride for over nineteen years.  Terry enjoyed golfing, fishing on the lake, and taking family and friends out on the boat.  He loved going for coffee twice a day at the Garden Café for friendly conversation, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Martha Vanderby; brother, Dwayne Vanderby; and three infant children.  Terry is survived by his daughter, Ronda Orton; sons, Travis (Tammy Allen) Vanderby, Shane Vanderby, and Chad (Elissa) Vanderby; sister, Doris Anema; brothers, Wilson Vanderby, John Vanderby, and Dirk Vanderby; as well as fourteen grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 25th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service, with a Memorial Service on Wednesday, July 26th at 11 a.m. at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.
