HYALITE RESERVOIR -

This time of the year, we tend to have some great weather and everyone ventures outside to do the yard work, swimming, fishing, and hiking but what about protecting your skin from the sun's rays.
According to the climate data from the National Weather Service,  Southwest Montana sees around 260 days of dry weather a year.

That means the sun can do some damage to your skin if it is not protected.
Bobbi Neuman, a PA at Big Sky Dermatology has this suggestion, " Sunscreen is an essential part of skin health both the prevention of skin cancer but also for prevention of premature skin aging.  It's not only important to put on your sunscreen, but just as important to actually re-apply.  The recommendations to reapply every 1-2 hours."

There are many types of sunscreen out there on the market and the American Academy of Dermatology has some recommendations of the strength.

Currently, the American Academy of Dermatology recommends anywhere between 30 - 50 SPF or higher and then just re-applying every hour to two hours.

Aso making sure you use a waterproof kid of sunscreen if you're going swimming or going to be sweating a lot.

Another way to protect from the bright sun is clothing, hats, gloves, buffs are all very helpful in keeping the sun off your skin.

And when it comes to small children, especially under the age of six months, make sure you cover them up.
