Obituary: Jessica Miller

Posted: Updated:

Jessica Miller passed away at home in the arms of her loving husband on May 9, 2017, after a long battle with breast cancer.

She was born Jessica Anne Curry on July 7, 1978, to parents, Cheryl and Jerry Curry, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The family moved to Waldorf, Maryland, where Jessica swam with the Smallwood Swim Team for a couple of years and played soccer with the Waldorf Soccer Club and the Washington Area Girls’ Soccer League.

She attended McDonough High School, where she lettered in soccer, basketball, field hockey, and track.

Jessica was honored as Player of the Year in girls’ soccer by the Maryland Independent Newspaper and by the league coaches in her senior year.

Jessica played soccer at the University of Maryland Baltimore County where she majored in mechanical engineering.

She took a semester off to snowboard in Bend, Oregon, where she met her husband, Jason Miller.

Jessica completed her degree at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.

She moved to Reno, Nevada, where she and Jason were married, then returned to Bozeman to raise their family.

Jessica became a fire protection engineer in Bozeman, and the couple bought their first and second homes in Manhattan, Montana.

They were blessed with two beautiful daughters before Jessica’s diagnosis.

Despite her treatments, Jessica continued to live life to the fullest.

She continued working, snowboarding, canoeing, working out through Zumba, and running.  She coached soccer at Bozeman High School and AYSO.

She also taught adult education in Manhattan and started a Bunco group in town.  Jessica’s favorite places were snowy mountain tops and sunny beaches.

Jessica is survived by her husband, Jason; two beautiful children; parents, Cheryl and Jerry; sisters, Jennifer, Jacquelyn, and Jillian; grandfathers, Jerry Curry and Roger Vangheluwe; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and countless friends.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Manhattan Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Jessica Miller Memorial Fund, c/o Manhattan Bank, 124 S. Broadway St, Manhattan, MT 59741 would be appreciated.

Arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.
