  • Deputy Mason Moore was shot and killed on Tuesday
  • Two suspects apprehended after high-speed chase
  • GoFundMe account set up for Moore's family

The Broadwater County Sheriff's deputy who was shot and killed Tuesday morning has been identified as Mason Moore.

Moore was a husband and father of three children. He was a three-year veteran of the Sheriff’s office.

The family has requested privacy at this time.

The Bridge Church in Belgrade has created a GoFundMe account:

The community of Townsend is in shock over the murder.

Outside Mark Smith's barbershop, he has put blue and black tape to support law enforcement. The blue represents law enforcement and the black represents the fallen deputy.

Smith said, "My heart just sank. I have several deputies that come in here and get their hair cut as well as the correctional officers and different members of the community. It's just terrible."

Townsend resident Katie Grewell said, "My ultimate goal is to make sure that the family doesn't have to worry about feeding their family, or cooking for their family for at least a month."

And she will have lots of help: "My phone has been blowing up all day. It's just been text after text and phone call after phone call after Facebook message..."

Lisa Higgins of Broadwater Blooms Flower Shop said, "Several people have called in this morning right away and we told them we're already working on it so together we decided to do a big donation from the whole community."

The shop sent red, white, and blue roses to the Sheriff's Office.

Higgins said, "We were very concerned and praying for them immediately and their families...the whole department"

The two suspects have been identified and are in custody in Missoula County.

They are Marshall Barrus, 38, of Gallatin County, and Lloyd Barrus, 62, whose last known address is Bakersfield, California.
