BUTTE -

Butte-Silver Bow County Commissioners will review a cost analysis of three proposed locations to relocate its maintenance shop.

Butte must move its maintenance shop off of Civic Center Road to make room for the cleanup of buried mine waste known as the Parrot tailings. Proposed locations include just north of the current facility, another off of Centennial Avenue and a third off of Beef Trail Road. Once a location is chosen, the National Resources Damage Program can begin removing the tailings.

“I believe the NRD intends to remove tailings on the north side of Civic Center Road where the ballpark used to be this summer, and then once we can relocate the shops next summer to the new location then they'll work on the south side of the road,” said Butte Public Works Director Dave Schultz.

The commissioners will review the cost report at next Wednesday council meeting and choose a location at its May 3rd meeting.
