Obituary: Hope Lucille (Robins) Tryon

Posted: Updated:

Hope Lucille (Robins) Tryon of Bozeman, MT, passed away April 7, 2017, just 77 days shy her 100th birthday.  Hope was born June 22, 1917, to Bennett and Frieda (Pfisterer) Robins North of Rushville, Nebraska.  She graduated from Rushville High School in 1934, and was united in marriage to her neighbor and childhood friend, Stanly E. Tryon, on January 12, 1942.

During her life, she lived on a ranch and farm North of Rushville and following her husband's career which led them to Columbus, Ohio, before Stanley entered WWII as an Army Air Corps pilot, returning to the Tryon farm North of Rushville. In 1967 Stanley’s career in Farm Bureau led them to Alliance, Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska, Littleton, Colorado, and lastly Bozeman, Montana, where they made their final home.

Hope enjoyed music, playing piano and organ, sang songs and enjoyed the music provided by volunteers at the rest home. Gardening, knitting, craft making, and china painting decorated their home. Like Hope’s houseplants and garden flourished, so did the friendships they made wherever they lived. Everyone enjoyed her cooking and famous cinnamon rolls and dill pickles.

She volunteered for Bozeman Welcome Wagon, Salvation Army, and the Bozeman Senior Center. She was up for any adventure her family wanted to take be it an undiscovered back road, sapphire hunting or to the lake with children and grandchildren.

Hope is preceded in death by her parents and husband; brothers, Clifford and Leonard Robins; sister-in-law, Inez Watts; brother-in-law, Dwight Salisbury and an infant granddaughter.

She is survived by her children, Stanley Gene Tryon, Lincoln, Nebraska, Donna Tryon, North Platte, Nebraska, and Betty (Roland) Vander Vos, Belgrade, Montana; her sister, Margaret Salisbury, Alliance, Nebraska; 6 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff, residents, and volunteers at the Gallatin Rest Home for making Hope’s final years an enjoyable time.

Memorials or contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Hope Tryon’s name.

Joint memorial services for Hope and Stanley will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 3, 2017, at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service, Bozeman, Montana. Burial is at Sunset Hills Cemetery followed by a picnic in Lindley Park adjacent to the cemetery.

Arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.  www.dokkennelson.com Condolences may be left at the Dokken-Nelson website.

This year's U.S. Capitol Christmas tree was grown right here in Montana. It only makes sense that the tree's topper was made in its home state as well.
