Obituary: Lloyd Ligtenberg

Lloyd Ligtenberg, 87, of Bozeman, MT, left this earthly life and entered his heavenly home on Saturday, April 8, 2017.  Lloyd was born to Henry and Jennie (Deboer) Ligtenberg on August 18, 1929, in Stickney, SD. Early in his childhood, he moved to Montana with his family. He married Patricia Karp on December 11, 1951. They began their married life on the family farm.  Lloyd served in the United States Air Force after which they moved and worked in California, then returned to the Gallatin Valley where they raised their four children.        

Lloyd worked in various jobs around the valley before becoming yard foreman at United Building Center where he retired after 30 years.  He enjoyed family dinners and Sunday coffee time after church with the grandkids.  He also enjoyed woodworking and watching sports. Lloyd and Pat spent time camping, league bowling and Monday morning breakfast with friends.  Lloyd was an active member in the Bozeman Christian Reformed Church where he served as both Deacon and Elder over the years.

Lloyd is survived by his children, Bruce (Susan) Ligtenberg of Alabama, Brent (Patty) Ligtenberg, Brian (Julie) Ligtenberg all of Belgrade, Denise (Tom) Kimm of Churchill; grandchildren, Cherie (John) Duty, Philip Ligtenberg, Josh Ligtenberg, Mark (Nora) Ligtenberg, Jessica (Anders) Larson, Riley Kimm, Kelsie (James) Rowenhorst; and 12 great-grandchildren; and mother-in-law, Anne Karp of Bozeman.

He is also survived by his brother, Ken (Eloise) Ligtenberg; sister, Darlene (Andy) Moss; along with many nieces and nephews.  He was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia; brother, Freddy; sister, Anne Sinnema; grandson, Jeremy Ligtenberg; and father-in-law, Sam Karp.

Interment will be at the Churchill Cemetery at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 13th followed by a Memorial Service at the Bozeman Christian Reformed Church, 324 North 5th Ave at 11:00 am.
